Acta

Acta is an Italian clean technology business. Acta’s mission is to provide commercially viable onsite hydrogen production systems to accelerate the growth of the hydrogen economy.

Acta has leading expertise in anion exchange membrane (AEM) technology and offers a unique range of electrolysers, stacks and integrated energy storage systems based on eight years of world-leading research and development. The simplicity of Acta’s technology and the absence of precious metal components make Acta’s systems cheaper than any comparable product on the market. Their low cost, rainwater-fed electrolysers can be powered directly from renewables. Acta’s products are the portal to the hydrogen economy.

Mossau Energy

Blue Hamster hydrogen energy system: Our self-sufficient power supply is composed of two different storage systems. The long term store and the short term store are linked by a rechargeable battery.

Short-term store: With short term store our target is to provide energy all day long. A photovoltaic cell supplies the energy which the rechargeable battery keeps in stock. This allows us to feed from it not only during day but also in the evening. That same battery compensates peak consumptions as also being the link to our long-term store.

Long-term store: If the battery is fully charged and household consummations are covered the long term store kicks in. This system converts spare energy into hydrogen. Hydrogen can then be permanently stored in tanks. If required it can then be trans- formed into engery by fuel cells. The accruing thermal energy can be used for supporting heating. Or you can use the hydrogen itself to run a heater.

Note from ACTA-SIG member: Mossau Energy’s Blue Hamster is very similar to the ACTA Power system. Mossau Energy combines their own AEM electrolysers with a PEM fuel cell from Proton Motor to provide a self-recharging fuel cell system. Mossau Energy was the only company with a commercialised electrolyser and fuel cell solution represented at the Intersolar and Electrical Energy Storage Europe Exhibition in Munich in 2015.

Electro Power Systems

Electro Power Systems (EPS) developed a cutting edge hydrogen battery technology to store energy in any environmental condition. By producing and storing energy from hydrogen, they enable businesses and individuals to be independent from the grid and free of energy constraints.

Electro Power Systems (EPS) is a forerunner in smart hydrogen-based systems for energy storage. EPS offers the market’s most accessible and cleanest solutions through its self-recharging, integrated technology. The solutions developed by EPS coupled to the traditional ICT and electric grids enable intelligent, scalable and sustainable distributed generation. EPS’ storage systems capacity (10kWh up to hundreds of MWh of capacity) can be deployed in different applications: from auxiliary power supply (backup for telecom towers and data centers) to solutions for supporting the electricity grid for transmission and distribution (smart grids and renewables integration). Indeed, the systems enable a fully-distributed generation model, alternative to traditional grid infrastructure.

Atawey

Founded in 2012 by Jean-Michel Amaré and Pierre-Jean Bonnefond, ATAWEY designs and manufactures turnkey autonomous energy solutions for isolated sites.

ATAWEY's system meets the challenges of energy supply (in terms of energy in reserve and/or power), in the harshest conditions (altitude and cold or heat and humidity), while respecting the environment (no noise or atmospheric nuisance). It resolves the problem of intermittent production of renewable energies from photovoltaic, wind or hydraulic sources, the only natural sources available on isolated sites. By providing sustainable storage, it limits all wastage and guarantees the supply whatever the variability and changes in consumption. It also saves space and reduces costs for the user. Thanks to this system, a site can achieve total electrical autonomy over the year, without over-sizing its renewable energy installation.

The ATAWEY product consists of a short term storage system (day) with batteries, and a long term storage system (year) with a hydrogen chain.
